These regular messages are lists of drilling rigs and their positions. Note that different seaborne drilling rigs do different jobs. Mobile offshore drilling units (MODUs) make hole and are moved about as needed. Production facilities, in contrast, remain in place through the life of the well. These marine alerts list the MODUs and their locations.
