ONTO THE COUNTRY DURING CHRISTMAS DAY (TODAY), BRINGING SHOWERS TO
MANY PLACES. THE LOW CROSSES THE NORTH ISLAND DURING THURSDAY (BOXING
DAY) AND STRONG SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST WINDS SPREAD OVER THE COUNTRY IN
ITS WAKE. A LARGE AND DEEP LOW LIES TO THE EAST OF THE NORTH ISLAND
ON FRIDAY, SPREADING STRONG SOUTHERLIES OVER MUCH OF NEW ZEALAND. ON
SATURDAY, THE LOW EAST OF THE NORTH ISLAND MOVES SLOWLY EASTWARDS AND
STRONG SOUTHERLIES OVER NEW ZEALAND GRADUALLY EASE, WHILE A TROUGH
OVER THE TASMAN SEA MOVES ONTO THE SOUTH ISLAND. DURING SUNDAY, THE
TROUGH MOVES NORTHWARDS OVER THE SOUTH ISLAND. THE TROUGH INTENSIFIES
OVER THE COUNTRY ON MONDAY.
