25 to 35 in the west becoming SW 25 to 35 in the extreme
south-west by the end of the period.
VIS : Good, becoming moderate over the central parts from midnight
and in the west towards the end of the period.
SEA STATE: 3.0 to 4.0m SW swell in places reaching 5.0m in places in the
west.
DURBAN EAST (32.5S/25S, EAST COAST/55E):
WIND : E to SE 10 to 20, but N to NE 15 to 25 in the extreme west
reaching 30 towards midnight.
VIS : Moderate in showers and rain in places in the west.
SEA STATE: 3.0m S to SW swell in places in the south-west from midnight.
MOZAMBIQUE CHANNEL:
WIND : S to SE 15 to 25, becoming SW 10 to 15 in the south from

– Low 1006 hPa filling near 35S/53E, slow south-easterly movement, with
associated cold front (CF) and warm front (WF) over East WAM.
– High 1027 hPa near 31S/84E, moving slowly eastwards.
– Low 972 hPa deepening near 52S/58E, moving fairly quickly eastwards,
with cold front (CG) over CRO then over KER.
– High 1026 hPa 36S/36E with a ridge extending towards WAM in teh
daytime.

WAM (30S/40S,50E/65E) :
Rain, showers and locally thundery squalls.
WIND: clockwise 4 to 6 locally 7 over eastern area, with strong gusts over northern area becoming southerly 4 to 6 over western area then becoming anticlockwise 3 to 5 overnight.
SEA: moderate to rough. SW swell 2 to 3 m.
VISI : very poor with precipitation becoming good.
AMS (30S/40S,65E/80E) :
Rain and frontal showers (CF) from west zone.
WIND: anticlockwise 2 to 4 from the East gradually increasing from the West zone and becoming clockwise 4 to 6 locally 7/8. becoming SW 4 to 6 behind CF overnight. Strong gusts in the area.
SEA: moderate to rough. S swell of around 2 m followed by a NW swell of 2 to 3 m.
VISI: very poor with precipitation.
CRO (40S/50S,50E/65E) :
Rain and frontal showers with CG. Locally snowy showers over the southern.
WIND: north-westerly 6 to 7 with strong gusts ahead of the front backing westerly to south-westerly 6/7 locally 8. Gusts.
SEA: rough to very rough. Westerly swell 3 to 4 m.
VISI: poor to very poor under snowy precipitation.
KER (40S/50S,65E/80E) :
Rain and frontal showers with CF.
WIND: north-westerly 6 to 7 ahead of the front, backing westerly 5 to 7 behind and becoming low 6 to 8 over the northern zone at the end of the period. Gusts.
SEA: rough to very rough. Long southerly swell 3 to 5 m followed by a long westerly swell 3 to 4 m.
VISI: poor to very poor in snowy conditions.
